My theory for Hansel and Gretel: Hansel always wanted attention while Gretel always wanted some time alone and to be loved Hansel was just a nobody to everyone and he hated Gretel. Gretel would get insulted and also hurt and she would get papers to go on tv meanwhile Hansel never goes to parties cause he doesn’t get invited. Hansel likes suicide and Gretel doesn’t want to do anything with self harm. It’s like the performer wants to be a nobody while the nobody wants to be a performer. Hansel probably died because of suicide and Gretel probably died because of a stranger who got startled, and self defensed himself. The End~

So I hear everyone talking about the symbolism in the song about abusive relationships, the parallels with Misery Meat, and how good this song is. I never hear anyone talk about how ‘Why do you still believe in me?’ at 0:55 is the only part of the song with actual lip sync. You’d think everyone would notice it and think ‘oh that must be important’ but I guess not.

So i just listened to Hansel and Gretel again, and i'm pretty sure that someone already said this somewhere, but it's so cool yet so heartbreaking how Hansel(the song) has 6 million views while Gretel only has one million. If we were to look at it from the story's point of view, they got what they wanted even in this universe. Hansel got all the attention-his song being used in hundreds of videos, while i've only seen Gretel's being used in one video. Anyway, it's sad how they only got what they wanted as they died. At least they found their peace, though

I personally think the song means like when two people know eachother for so long and feel close, but then the other person hurt the other person by asking them for things all the time and not giving them breaks with the lyrics "rest and ease are rare found commodities" and then them not trusting or doing anything for anyone again like when it says that no one ever asks that of me and then ignoring the person who asks, and with how to dog character gets ripped up when its trusting by showing its belly But this is just my opinion!
